LOS ANGELES, June 27, 2008 (AFP) - The Anaheim Ducks placed right wing Todd Bertuzzi on unconditional waivers for the purpose of buying out the last year of his contract.
Last summer, Bertuzzi signed a two-year deal with the National Hockey League team worth eight million dollars. If he is not claimed, the 33-year-old will clear waivers on Saturday.
After being limited to 15 games in 2006-07 following surgery for a herniated disk, Bertuzzi played in 68 contests last season, recording 14 goals and 26 assists.
