SAN JOSE, California, June 25, 2008 (AFP) - Veteran forward Jeremy Roenick, who recently became the 40th player in NHL history to score 500 goals, re-signed with the San Jose Sharks on Wednesday.
The 38-year-old American reportedly signed a contract worth close to one million dollars. He joined the Sharks as a free agent at the beginning of the 2007-08 season.
Along with Mike Modano and Joe Mullen, Roenick is one of just three American born players to reach the 500-goal plateau.
A two-time Olympian who won a silver medal in 2002, Roenick contemplated retiring before signing with the Sharks last season.
Roenick has recorded 509 goals and 694 assists in his 20 seasons with the Chicago Blackhawks, Phoenix Coyotes, Philadelphia Flyers, Los Angeles Kings and Sharks.
